LOCKBOURNE, Ohio — A beloved pizza and ice cream shop that has served the community for five decades will not reopen for the 2025 season as its owner has decided to retire.

Located at 6251 South High Street, near US-23 and SR-762, Lombardi’s Ice Cream Shop has been a local favorite, known for its signature pizzas, seafood specialties, and sweet treats.

For years, customers returned for their famous “Dominic the Destroyer” pizza, a fully loaded specialty, as well as the classic Hawaiian pizza. The restaurant wasn’t just about pizza—its fried oysters and Lake Perch sandwiches were go-to favorites for many patrons. To top off a meal, customers could choose from 14 different milkshake flavors or indulge in a classic banana split.

The decision to close marks the end of an era for Lombardi’s, a staple in the community that has been a cherished stop for generations. At this time, it remains unclear what will become of the location—whether it will be sold to continue operations under a new owner or repurposed for a different use.

Local residents have expressed their sadness over the closure, sharing memories of family meals and summer nights spent enjoying ice cream at Lombardi’s.
