CIRCLEVILLE – Two weeks ago someone tried to purchase some items at the Farm Market with a fake 100 dollar bill. Earlier today someone tried to buy items at a garage sale with a fake 100 dollar bill.
Why are these dishonest people aiming at these targets? Most likely because they believe their target won’t notice as easily, and doesn’t have the training or the equipment to fully detect these bills. So these thieves are picking softer targets than regular retail stores for their fake money.
Last year we reported on a bill being passed around in Lancaster that looked surprisingly real other than a tell-tale sign they had, “For motion picture use only” on them. Heres the link to that story with the photo of the bill.
As of right now the fake bills have been noticed and police are searching for the people responsible, but with several incidents in the past few weeks you may want to be extra careful with the monies you receive and contact authorities immediately with descriptions of the persons responsible.
