PICKAWAY COUNTY, OH – A dramatic chase early Sunday morning ended with the arrest of a man on multiple charges after he fled from a traffic stop. The incident began around 12:30 am when an Ohio State Highway Patrol trooper attempted to stop a speeding vehicle on US-23.

The driver, 23-year-old Christopher Wojno, pulled over near US-23 and Little Walnut Road but then fled on foot, leaving his passenger in the car. The passenger informed police that Wojno might be armed and under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

A coordinated response was quickly initiated, involving the South Bloomfield Police, Pickaway County Sheriff’s Department, and Ashville Police. Authorities cordoned off the area and called in an Ohio State Highway Patrol helicopter to assist with the search.

The search efforts focused on Walnut Creek, a stream running north towards Ashville. Residents in the area reported sightings of Wojno, and law enforcement intensified their search around Pickaway Street and Walnut Creek after sighting someone walking.

The helicopter, equipped with infrared technology, eventually spotted Wojno. Guided by the aerial view, officers were able to pinpoint Wojno’s location. Despite a final attempt to evade capture, Wojno was apprehended about an hour after the chase began.

Christopher Wojno now faces several charges, including speeding, OVI (Operating a Vehicle under the Influence), driving under FRA suspension, failure to reinstate his license, tampering with evidence, and failure to comply. He is currently held in the Pickaway County Jail and is scheduled to appear in court on Monday.
