CHILLICOTHE, OH – A man was arrested early Tuesday morning after allegedly causing extensive damage inside the Valero gas station on North Bridge Street in Chillicothe.
According to police reports, officers responded to Valero at approximately 3:24 AM on February 18, 2025, following a report of a disorderly individual inside the store. Upon arrival, Officer Justin Tuttle witnessed the suspect, identified as Andrew Joseph McCutcheon, pushing a pizza toaster oven off the counter, shattering it on the floor.
Further investigation revealed that McCutcheon had destroyed multiple items inside the store, including:
- Shattering a glass beverage case door
- Knocking over chip displays and shelves of motor oil
- Damaging a beverage machine, which was leaking onto the floor
- Dumping out a slushie machine and knocking it over
- Opening and partially consuming a can of Armour potted meat
Gas station employee reported that McCutcheon had only been inside the store for about two minutes before the rampage began. The Cashier stated that he immediately told McCutcheon he was barred from the premises, but the suspect ignored him and continued causing damage, even after being told that police were en route.
Suspect Previously Barred from Valero
Authorities later confirmed that McCutcheon had been banned from the Valero location under a previous report filed by Officer Brown.
Officer Tuttle ordered McCutcheon to comply and place his hands behind his back, which he did without resistance. McCutcheon was then taken into custody, where he reportedly responded “guilty” when advised of his Miranda rights.
Charges & Court Date
McCutcheon was transported to Ross County Jail and charged with the following offenses:
- Criminal Trespass (ORC 2911.21)
- Theft Without Consent (ORC 2913.02A1)
- Vandalism (ORC 2909.05B1B)
He is scheduled to appear in court on February 18, 2025, at 9:00 AM.
The Valero gas station was forced to temporarily close for cleanup, and employees are working to assess the full extent of the damage. Authorities are also reviewing surveillance footage and gathering additional evidence as the investigation continues.
