Circleville – On July 28, 2023, the Circleville Police Department responded to 125 Wilson Avenue, Circleville, Ohio, for reported shots being fired into a residence. Officers arrived on scene and made contact with the residents, who advised that someone had fired multiple shots into the rear of the residence, where the bedroom is located. The residents were in bed at the time and stated that the headboard was struck by gunfire. Detectives were notified and responded to the scene. Eleven bullet holes were found in the outside of the home, one of which struck a window air conditioner. Bullets penetrated the walls of the residence, causing damage in multiple rooms. Evidence was collected from inside of the residence as well as from the yard.
During the investigation, a suspect was identified. On August 8, 2023, arrest warrants were issued for Brian K. Smith Sr. of Columbus, Ohio. Mr. Smith was arrested on August 9, 2023, by the Ross County Sheriff’s Office, and transported to the Pickaway County Jail. Mr. Smith has been charged with 2 counts of Felonious Assault, Improperly Discharging Firearm at or into Habitation, and Having Weapons Under Disability
He is currently in custody of Pickaway County Jail
