Man Dies after being Injured in Restricted Area of Kings Island Amusement Park

Mason, OH, June 19, 2024 — A man who was critically injured at Kings Island amusement park after accessing a restricted area near the Banshee roller coaster, has died.

The Mason Police Department received a call Wednesday night regarding a person down within a restricted zone of the Banshee roller coaster. According to a police press release, officers arrived to find a 38-year-old man with severe injuries.

The man was initially taken to a local hospital but was later flown to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center for advanced treatment.

“On Wednesday at approximately 8:00 p.m., a guest entered a restricted, fenced area of the Banshee roller coaster and is believed to have been struck by the ride,” a Kings Island representative stated in an email. “The park’s safety and first aid personnel responded immediately to the situation and contacted local emergency responders.”

On Monday Hamilton County Coroner’s Office released a statement that Nelson had died at UC Medical Center

Kings Island, located in Mason, Ohio, emphasizes the safety of its guests and staff, and this incident is a rare and concerning event for the popular amusement park.
