Chillicothe, OH – A Chillicothe man was arrested early on January 23, 2025, following a trespassing incident at the Valero gas station on North Bridge Street. Robert Miguel De Los Santos, 36, was charged with obstructing official business after fleeing from police and attempting to avoid arrest.

According to the Chillicothe Police Department (CPD), officers were initially dispatched to the Valero at 6:30 a.m. following a complaint from store manager. She reported that De Los Santos had been sleeping in the store’s bar area and refused to leave when asked. The manager also requested that he be barred from the premises.

When officers arrived, they made contact with De Los Santos, who was standing in the corner of the bar area with a bag. Upon request, he refused to provide his personal information. As officers attempted to question him, De Los Santos ran out the back door of the store and fled across Bridge Street toward Wendy’s. After a brief chase, De Los Santos lost his balance and fell on the icy sidewalk, where he was apprehended and placed in handcuffs.

While in custody, De Los Santos claimed he fled because he had an active warrant for his arrest. However, after further investigation, it was confirmed that no warrant was active. He was transported to the Ross County Jail and was scheduled for a court appearance on January 24, 2025.

During the investigation, officers found several items abandoned by De Los Santos inside the store, including backpacks and a duffel bag. In the bags, they discovered suspected stolen items, including Pokémon cards, clothing with tags still attached, and drug paraphernalia such as hypodermic needles and drug residue.

De Los Santos remains in custody as the investigation continues. Further evidence from the scene, including drug paraphernalia, has been secured for evidence processing.
