Most people judge and are judged by their appearance, whether it’s their looks, their size or how they dress. There is one woman that is hoping she is changing people’s opinion on being over weight and living an active life.
Mirna Valerio “The Mirnavator“, an avid runner who has completed 10 marathons as well as 14 Ultra-Marathons is inspiring and motivating others of all shapes and sizes.
“I am not skinny, so I think that a lot of people can see themselves in me” said Valerio during her interview with Good Morning America. “Athletics are really really intimidating, especially when we are constantly barraged with one specific body type that is supposed to be the aspirational ideal. People are always going to have something to say about how you look or what you should being doing and shouldn’t be doing. You can either except that and let that stop you or you can go out there and do the thing that you need to do for your body and spirit.”
Mirna plans to participate in a 100 mile marathon in 2020 and has a long list of other marathons that she plans to participate in.
