As the Circleville Pumpkin Show approaches, Natalie Young, a vibrant 16-year-old from Westfall High School, is stepping into the spotlight as a candidate for Pumpkin Show Queen. With a passion for her community and a commitment to making a difference, Natalie embodies the spirit of the event.
Natalie is not just a dedicated student; she is also an active member of her community. She plays varsity volleyball and serves as an ambassador for the Drug Free Club of America. In addition to her athletic pursuits, she volunteers at New Leaf in Circleville and participates in the Garden Club in Derby Township.
For Natalie, the Pumpkin Show represents a cherished tradition that brings the community together. “It’s all the county schools coming together to celebrate the Show!” she shared, highlighting the unity that the event fosters.
Reflecting on her favorite memories, Natalie recalls her time as a participant in the Little Miss Parade in 2014, where she humorously remembers, “I repeatedly fell off my rug in the car!” This fond memory captures the joyful spirit of the Pumpkin Show.
When it comes to food, Natalie’s favorite treat is Crabtree’s Cheese on a Stick, a nostalgic delight that reminds her of her childhood. She describes the Pumpkin Show as “the greatest free show on earth for all ages, with pumpkins and food everywhere!”
If given the chance to enhance the event, Natalie would advocate for more gluten-free options to ensure everyone can enjoy the festivities. “Celiac-friendly food options would be a great addition!” she noted, demonstrating her thoughtfulness and inclusivity.
As a potential queen, Natalie aims to promote the Pumpkin Show by sharing its rich history and emphasizing its unique qualities. “I would speak on the history of the greatest free show on earth,” she said, eager to connect with attendees.
The most significant influence in her life is her mother, whom she admires for her resilience in overcoming challenges. “My mom has had the greatest impact on my life,” Natalie shared.
Natalie is also proud of her volleyball team’s recent achievement in securing first place in the state for OVR volleyball.
As she prepares for the Pumpkin Show, Natalie Young represents the heart and soul of the event, combining community spirit with a commitment to celebrating local traditions. She looks forward to making her mark at this year’s festivities!
