Minford, OH — Brooklyn Frazie, a resident of Shumway Hollow, was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole for at least 34 years on August 16, 2024. Frazie, 42, was found guilty of aggravated murder and 11 other charges following a weeklong trial in the Scioto County Court of Common Pleas.

Frazie faced a total of 12 counts, including aggravated murder, felonious assault, and operating a vehicle while under the influence, among others. The charges stemmed from an incident on September 27, 2023, which led to the death of her boyfriend, 44-year-old Darrell (Scott) Donahoe.

According to evidence presented in court, the fatal incident began with a domestic dispute that escalated into a high-speed chase involving Frazie’s SUV and Donahoe’s motorcycle. Witnesses reported seeing the vehicles traveling at excessive speeds through the Sciotoville/Minford area before the collision occurred on U.S. 52 in New Boston.

Eyewitnesses testified that Frazie, driving aggressively, rammed into Donahoe’s motorcycle, causing him to fall and then dragging him under her vehicle for 58 feet. Frazie then reversed over Donahoe before being stopped by bystanders. Despite immediate assistance from witnesses and first responders, Donahoe was pronounced dead shortly after arriving at Southern Ohio Medical Center. An autopsy revealed he suffered severe internal injuries and multiple rib fractures.

The Scioto County Sheriff’s Office, assisted by the New Boston Police Department and the Ohio State Highway Patrol, conducted the investigation. Expert reconstruction confirmed that Frazie had struck Donahoe while he was upright on his motorcycle, refuting her claim that he had crashed in front of her. Toxicology results showed methamphetamine in Frazie’s system, and she was also found with Suboxone at the time of the incident.

During the trial, the State presented 30 witnesses and over 150 exhibits. Frazie’s defense, which included her own testimony, argued that the incident was accidental and denied her intent to kill. The jury deliberated for less than three hours before finding her guilty on all counts.

Before sentencing, victim impact statements were delivered by Donahoe’s daughter and mother, who spoke about the profound impact of his death on their lives. Judge Mark Kuhn then imposed the life sentence, acknowledging the devastating effect of the crime on Donahoe’s family.

Scioto County Prosecutor Shane Tieman expressed condolences to Donahoe’s family and praised the community’s response. He thanked the jurors, eyewitnesses, and law enforcement agencies for their roles in the case, highlighting their crucial contributions to achieving justice.

“This case underscores the strength of our community,” Tieman said. “While nothing can undo the tragedy, the swift and brave actions of those involved have been crucial in seeking justice for Scott Donahoe.”
