Chillicothe — The “Resource Center” at 804 Eastern Avenue has been open 24 hours a day for more than a year as the homeless shelter, and more, for the city and Ross County.

It’s operated by the Ross County Community Action Coalition, a nonprofit that works with several public assistance agencies on many topics.

In my previous story, I asked Julie Bolen, the executive director of Community Action, how the shelter has been doing in its first year and during the recent cold and snow.

The Resource Center (homeless shelter) of the Ross County Community Action Coalition.

She shared some photos of the interior of the shelter that I didn’t get until after I produced my story…so here they are, along with a few from Community Action’s Facebook page, to illustrate the 80-cot facility with a separate day lounge and kitchenette.

Bolen says they have managed to keep the shelter open 27/7 since December 12th, 2023, though it is expensive – so they are looking for additional funding as well as welcome more volunteers. Learn more, as well as hear Bolen in her own words in the video interview, in my previous story.

Find the Ross County Community Action Coalition on their website and on Facebook.
