ROSS COUNTY, Ohio – A motorcycle crash on State Route 159 Tuesday night resulted in one person being airlifted to the hospital after sustaining serious injuries.
According to a report from the Ross County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy on patrol around 9:35 p.m. came upon the crash scene, where a motorcyclist was found lying on the pavement next to his wrecked bike. A female witness, who identified herself as the rider’s friend, told deputies that the motorcycle crashed after a vehicle suddenly stopped in front of him, causing him to collide with the rear of the car. She added that the vehicle fled the scene, continuing north on SR-159 toward Kingston.
Deputies attempted to communicate with the injured motorcyclist, who was initially responsive but later became unconscious and suffered a seizure. Emergency medical personnel from Green Township EMS arrived and transported the rider to Adena Regional Medical Center, where he was later airlifted by MedFlight to Grant Hospital.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol has taken over the investigation and is searching for the vehicle that fled the scene. Anyone with information about the incident is urged to contact authorities.
