Circleville – A new ice cream flavor is in town and this one has a Mexican flavor to it. The owner of El Pedregal restaurant in Downtown Circleville has expanded to include an Ice cream shop called Ponchos Ice Cream.
Ponchos Ice Cream officially opened its doors today at 105 East Main Street, bringing a unique blend of flavors to the downtown area. Manager Sarai, who is excited about the new venture, shared insights into the shop’s offerings and concept.
“Our idea was to create something different for the community, incorporating a Mexican-American flair,” Sarah explained. “We have a variety of water-based flavors, akin to sorbet, as well as traditional ice cream options and deluxe frozen popsicles.”
The shop features over 30 popsicle flavors and 24 ice cream flavors, with highlights including unique combinations like Chamoy and traditional favorites like cookies and cream. “We wanted to introduce flavors that you might find in Mexico, like corn ice cream, which has a subtle buttery taste,” she noted.
Located in the heart of Circleville, the timing of the opening aligns perfectly with the upcoming Pumpkin Show. Ponchos Ice Cream will offer seasonal flavors, including pumpkin ice cream and a pumpkin coffee blend.
Operating hours are currently set from 11 AM to 9 PM, Monday through Sunday, with potential adjustments as the season progresses. “We’ll adapt our hours based on demand,” Sarah said.
In addition to ice cream and popsicles, Ponchos will offer milkshakes and a variety of toppings, including sprinkles, M&Ms, and fresh fruit. Customers can also look forward to refreshing beverages like natural fruit waters.
With an emphasis on using all-natural ingredients and making ice cream in-house, Sarah believes this approach enhances the flavor and quality of the product. “It’s important for us to know exactly what goes into our ice cream,” she emphasized.
