NEWPORT, KY – A mesmerizing new exhibit is set to make waves at Newport Aquarium this spring. “Jellies: Go with the Flow” will officially open on March 21, inviting guests to explore the otherworldly beauty of jellyfish and gain an exclusive look into how these delicate creatures are cared for behind the scenes.
The exhibit will feature a variety of jelly species, each with their own unique characteristics. Visitors will be greeted by the hypnotic Atlantic nettles, known for their trailing tentacles that pulse gracefully through the water. The journey continues with the upside-down jellies, a fascinating species that spends most of its life inverted, relying on photosynthesis to produce its own food.
For the first time, guests will also get a behind-the-scenes look at Newport Aquarium’s propagation lab, where they can witness the life cycle of jellies firsthand, from tiny baby jellies to their fully developed, drifting forms.
“Every part of ‘Jellies: Go with the Flow’ is designed to spark curiosity and appreciation for these incredible species,” said Rebecca Foster, Executive Director of Newport Aquarium. “We hope our guests leave with a deeper respect for the ocean and feel inspired to help protect the animals that call it home.”
Free Pre-K Membership Extended
To celebrate the grand opening, Newport Aquarium is extending registration for its popular free Pre-K Membership, allowing children ages 2 to 4 years old to visit the aquarium unlimited for a full year—completely free. Parents can register their child at NewportAquarium.com through March 7 and must activate the membership by March 9 with proof of age.
The Pre-K Membership not only grants little ones access to the new jellies exhibit but also comes with extra perks, including a 10% discount at Sharky’s Café, Sweet Dreams Candy Store, and the gift shop.
