Nintendo has officially unveiled the highly anticipated successor to the popular Nintendo Switch, with the new console, the Nintendo Switch 2, set to be released in 2025. A first-look trailer was released today, offering a glimpse of the new hardware and its exciting features.
The Nintendo Switch 2 will support exclusive games developed specifically for the new system, as well as both physical and digital games from the original Nintendo Switch. However, some existing Switch games may not be fully compatible with the new system, and further details on game compatibility will be shared on Nintendo’s website at a later time.
To introduce the Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo will host a special broadcast titled “Nintendo Direct: Nintendo Switch 2 – 4.2.2025,” airing on April 2, 2025, providing more details about the upcoming console.
In addition, Nintendo has planned a global series of Nintendo Switch 2 Experience events, giving fans the chance to get hands-on with the new device. These events will take place in several cities around the world:
