OHIO – A nationwide outage of technology brought the nationwide train company to a standstill yesterday, the company says it will impact them for weeks to come
In a statement from the rail company, “Norfolk Southern experienced a hardware-related technology outage that impacted rail operations. At this time, we have no indication that this was a cybersecurity incident. Our teams worked throughout the day and successfully restored all systems at 7:00 p.m. ET. We are safely bringing our rail network back online.”
The railway has had many issues this year including a toxic derailment in East Palestine
Some citizens in Virginia who use the train for transportation had to seek alternative transportation as trains sat.
This afternoon, VRE’s Manassas Line trains were impacted by a Norfolk Southern system issue. Due to the delays and congestion, we were not able to operate our reverse flow trains 336 and 338. This meant canceling two southbound trains 325 and 331. https://t.co/aZvLczHKOY

Norfolk said that it expects the outage to effect the train for several weeks to come.
