COLUMBUS, Ohio (April 6, 2025) — The Ohio Office of Criminal Justice Services (OCJS) has announced the distribution of more than $6 million in federal funding aimed at addressing and reducing violence against women throughout the state.

The funds, provided through the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA), will support a wide range of programs and services, including efforts to combat domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, and stalking. In total, 93 grants were awarded to local governments and nonprofit organizations across 46 Ohio counties.

“These grants are a vital part of helping survivors receive the justice and support they deserve,” OCJS officials said. “They also strengthen the work of law enforcement, prosecutors, and community advocates across Ohio.”

The funding was allocated through two competitive grant processes under the federal fiscal year 2024 VAWA program. One process sought proposals from law enforcement, prosecutors, courts, and victim service providers across the state. The second focused on culturally specific community-based organizations that deliver services tailored to the unique needs of diverse communities.

In addition to direct victim services, the VAWA funds will help communities improve their law enforcement and prosecution strategies related to violent crimes against women, bolstering both prevention and response efforts.
