Ohio remains at the forefront of tornado activity for 2024, with the official tornado count soaring to 35 following the confirmation of five additional tornadoes from yesterday’s severe weather.
According to storm surveys conducted by the National Weather Service (NWS), the following tornadoes have been confirmed:
- An EF-0 Tornado in Champaign County
- An EF-1 Tornado in Delaware County
- An EF-1 Tornado in Crawford County, which directly impacted the city of Bucyrus.
- An EF-1 Tornado in Portage County
- An EF-0 Tornado in Trumbull County
The confirmation of these five tornadoes has solidified Ohio’s position as the most active state in the United States for tornadoes in 2024.
Despite it only being mid-April, the frequency and intensity of tornadoes in Ohio this year have raised concerns among residents and authorities alike. Emergency management officials urge residents to remain vigilant and stay informed about severe weather forecasts, as the tornado season continues.
