Ohio farmers impacted by the severe drought of 2024 may soon receive much-needed financial assistance. The Ohio Department of Agriculture (ODA) has announced $10 million in state funding to support agricultural producers recovering from extreme weather conditions that plagued the state throughout the spring and summer.

The relief funding will be administered through local Soil and Water Conservation Districts in 28 counties that were designated as primary natural disaster areas by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) between August 19 and September 16, 2024. Eligible recipients include livestock producers participating in the USDA Farm Service Agency’s (FSA) Livestock Forage Disaster Program within the designated counties.

The application period for funding opens on February 15, 2025, and will close on April 1, 2025. Farmers in affected counties are encouraged to reach out to their local Soil and Water Conservation Districts to determine eligibility and apply for assistance.
