HARRISON TOWNSHIP, OH – A man was arrested early Friday morning, February 7, 2025, after allegedly setting fire to his apartment following a domestic dispute, displacing 24 residents and prompting a large emergency response.

At approximately 3:41 a.m., deputies from the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, Harrison Township Substation were dispatched to an apartment complex on the 4100 block of Camargo Drive for a wellness check. The call came after a concerned individual reported that their significant other was sending them pictures of themselves burning the reportee’s clothes.

Upon arrival, deputies noticed smoke coming from the roof of the apartment building and detected a faint burning smell. As they investigated further, they entered the building and confirmed that smoke was coming from the suspect’s apartment.

Deputies immediately alerted the Montgomery County Regional Dispatch Center and called for the fire department while also working quickly to evacuate residents from the complex. The suspect was located and taken into custody, later being booked into the Montgomery County Jail on aggravated arson charges.

The Harrison Township Fire Department responded swiftly to contain the fire, while the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) assisted in the ongoing investigation. The RTA and Red Cross were also contacted to provide assistance to the displaced residents.

The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Special Investigations Unit Detectives are continuing the investigation and will present criminal charges to the Montgomery County Prosecutor’s Office.
