OHIO – A Ohio family is in mourning after hearing the news that their 2017 graduate has died in a terrorist attack in Afghanistan, he was one of 13 US Soldiers killed in the attack.
According to Us Senator Rob Portman Navy Fleet Marine Force Hospital Corpsman from Berlin Heights, Ohio Max Soviak was killed during the attack.
“Jane and I are heartbroken by the death of Max Soviak, a Navy Fleet Marine Force Hospital Corpsman from Berlin Heights, who lost his life in the service of his country. He was a hero who died serving with his Marine brothers helping to save fellow countrymen and our Afghan allies. We mourn his loss and are praying for his family and friends,” said Portman.
The US Navy reported that Soviak was killed at the Abbey gate of the Hamid Karzai International Airport in Kabul.
169 Afghans have now been reported to have died from the suicide bombing at the airport gates this week.
