The Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSHP) has released body cam footage from a dramatic roadside drug bust that took place during a semi-truck traffic stop in Madison County earlier this year.

On Monday, December 16, OSHP shared the video from the August 2024 incident, offering insight into the discovery of a massive drug haul during a routine inspection.

The footage shows the trooper explaining the reason for the traffic stop to the semi-truck driver, stating:
“You were driving about 74, 75, coming at me. You hit the brakes and you jumped over into the right lane. You were running about 72, 73, and you went out of your lane a couple times. And your trailer plate’s expired.”

The trooper noted the driver’s driving behavior and an expired trailer plate as contributing factors that led to suspicions about the driver’s travel timeline. Upon further inspection of the semi-truck’s trailer, officers uncovered 17.6 pounds of cocaine and 300 pounds of methamphetamine concealed inside. The estimated street value of the drugs is approximately $14.26 million.

Following the discovery, OSHP confirmed that felony drug trafficking charges were filed against the 41-year-old truck driver.
