“Ohio’s Mounds in the Historic Period” Tonight at Hopewell Culture NHP

Ross County – Learn how the historic period has treated our prehistoric earthworks 6:30pm July 11th in the visitors center just north of Chillicothe.

The Mound City Chapter of the Archaeological Society of Ohio posts in their Facebook page that in their monthly meeting,

Our speaker will be new MCC member Alex Armstrong. Alex is working on his master’s degree in geography at Ohio University and is currently researching how the earthworks of the Ohio Valley have been seen/used/preserved/destroyed in the period since European contact. His PowerPoint program is titled “Ohio’s Mounds in the Historic Period.’

From professional archaeologists to amateur collectors, the group also welcomes a show-and-tell at the start of their meetings for you to show off your finds or ask questions about them, whether prehistoric or historic.

The Mound City Chapter has now returned to meeting in the auditorium of Hopewell Culture National Historical Park at 16062 State Route 104. Learn more about the park on their website or Facebook page.
