Jackson Township – On Sunday, April 18, 2021, at 12:43AM, the Lancaster Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol was notified of a fatal crash on Garey Road NE near Old Junction Road N involving a side-by-side, off road vehicle.
A 2021, Kawasaki Teryx KRX 1000, operated by Mr. Jerry L. Spohn, 56, of Junction City, Ohio was going southwest on Garey Road NE toward Old Junction Road N and attempted to turn left onto Old Junction Road N. Mr. Spohn lost control, went off the road, struck a stop sign, and the vehicle overturned. Mr. Spohn was ejected and pronounced deceased at the scene.
A passenger, Ms. Shiela A. Spears-Hill, 52, of Junction City, Ohio was partially ejected and flown by MedFlight to Grant Medical Center.
Impairment is suspected to be a factor. The crash remains under investigation.
