FRANKLIN COUNTY, OH — The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office, in collaboration with the Pickaway County Sheriff’s Office, has successfully wrapped up its third “Operation Unity” of 2024. This joint initiative aimed to address and combat illegal activities including theft, drug-related crimes, and rising public concerns over stolen vehicles, shots fired incidents, and felonious assaults.

The operation focused on Zone 4, covering S. High Street (U.S. Rt 23) from Williams Road northward, extending south into Pickaway County, with the Village of South Bloomfield as the southernmost point of the operation.

Sheriff Matthew Hafey: “This partnership between the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office and the Pickaway County Sheriff’s Office is a great opportunity. We are collaborating to address serious community concerns, including auto accidents, reckless driving, drunk driving, human trafficking, and illegal narcotics and firearms in vehicles. Sheriff Paul graciously allowed us to work with his deputies in Franklin County, and we are excited about this ongoing relationship. Our goal is to keep the roads safer by removing illegal drugs and firearms, and enhancing public safety on the highways.”

Held over a 12-hour period from Tuesday, August 27th into the early morning of Wednesday, August 28th, Operation Unity yielded the following results:

  • 102 Traffic stops

  • 2 grams of cocaine seized
  • 2 grams of fentanyl seized
  • 7.1 grams of methamphetamine seized
