Ashville, Ohio, November 2023 — Thanks to the support of our community, and through their approval of tax levies, the Harrison Township Division of Fire has received a new medic via the remount process at the Horton Emergency Vehicles Company in Grove City, Ohio.
“New medics are taking anywhere from 36 to 48 months to be built and cost in excess of $350,000” says Fire Chief Shawn Davidson. “We were pleased that we were able to take our existing 2013 medic which had a box in decent shape, have the box updated and placed on a new 2022 Ford F550 chassis for $238,000 saving our taxpayers over $100,000”, said the Fire Department.
The total time for the rebuild was 5 months. Our fleet of medics are interchangeable and this gives us flexibility in our rotation. We put an average of 3500 miles per month on our medics and their lifespan is approximately 10 years.
The Harrison Township Fire Department now has a 2017, 2020 and 2022 medic to serve our communities. We are grateful for the support of our residents.
