PICKAWAY – A man attempted to drop drugs into a Pickaway institution over the weekend.
On Saturday, 2/18/23 OSP Circleville was called to investigate a suspicious person who attempted to drop drugs over a fence at the Pickaway Correctional Institution. When they arrived the man took off into the woods north of 762, OSP called for Helicopter support. The man found the river creek bed and walked down that line and attempted to evade the officers. He eventually found himself at 762 where officers took the man into custody with help from the helicopter.
Jay Wells, 23 was arrested and charged with two counts of illegal conveyance of drugs into the facility, possession of drugs, criminal trespass, and failure to comply with an officer. He is currently in Pickaway County jail

During the search for the suspect, Law enforcement found a backpack that had carried an unknown amount of drugs.
