Pickaway County, OH – The Pickaway County Sheriff’s Office is bringing holiday cheer once again with its annual “Light the Sky” Christmas event, set to take place on December 22, 2024.

Festivities will begin at 5:00 p.m. with the staging of first responder vehicles at Mary Virginia Crites Hannan Park (1230 Pontius Road).

The dazzling procession of emergency vehicles will begin at 6:00 p.m., making its way past nursing homes, assisted living facilities, and a special stop at OhioHealth Berger Hospital, where patients can view the lights from their windows. Participants are encouraged to step out of their vehicles at this stop to capture the festive atmosphere with photos.

First responders from across the region are encouraged to participate. Agencies are invited to bring all available equipment, from fire trucks to police cruisers, to make the event even more spectacular.

“This event brings joy to nursing home residents, hospital patients, and the entire community,” said Chief Deputy Brown. “Thanks to the incredible response in previous years, we’re looking forward to making this year’s event even more memorable.”

First responder agencies interested in participating are asked to RSVP to Chief Deputy Brown ([email protected]) or Deputy Pete Browers ([email protected]) with details about the equipment they plan to bring and the number of participants. Organizers will provide route details and radio frequencies for communication closer to the event date.

The Pickaway County Sheriff’s Office thanks everyone in advance for their support in making the holidays brighter for those in less-than-ideal circumstances. Don’t miss this heartwarming display of community spirit!
