Pickaway County, OH – Quick action by Pickaway County firefighters prevented a fire in a cornfield from spreading to nearby home on Tuesday, September 10, 2024 in the area of Mouser and Badger Road.
Around 3 p.m., neighbors reported the blaze to 911, stating that a fire had ignited in a standing cornfield adjacent to their properties. Firefighters promptly arrived on the scene and called for additional tanker trucks and manpower to help contain the growing fire.
It took several hours for the fire crews to fully extinguish the flames, but their efforts were successful in preventing further damage. The fire was contained before it could reach a nearby home.
A resident living closest to the fire expressed gratitude to the vigilant neighbors who acted swiftly to alert authorities. “I’m really thankful that our neighbors were observant and took action right away,” she told Sciotopost. “If it weren’t for their quick response, the fire could have easily reached our home.”
The fire is currently under investigation, and authorities are working to determine the cause. The prompt response from both the community and fire department played a crucial role in mitigating the potential threat.
