SOUTH BLOOMFIELD – Pickaway Place a place for community events, classes, programs and activities to support personal growth and well-being. Now they say that social distancing will cause them to have an extended closure that will force them to into a, “temporary indefinite closure of Pickaway Place.”
The Place has a business model that is people-oriented and designed to meet a variety of needs within Pickaway County. “We are somewhat limited to the personal growth options within Pickaway County, particularly in the northern part of the county,” said Kim Miller, owner and executive director of The Place. “We are close enough to Columbus that we have great options, but not as convenient as having those options right in our community. The Place brings the best class offerings to our area and focuses on creating new offerings that serve the communities of Pickaway County. There isn’t anything like this in our area.”
“It is heartbreaking to share this update, but as the implications of Covid-19 extend, we do not have a reopening plan that best suits the business financially and is within social-distancing guidelines and so are extending a temporary indefinite closure of Pickaway Place.
This isn’t how we saw the future of Pickaway Place going and it’s devastating to come to the realization of where we are today amidst shutdowns and social distancing orders. Our business does not qualify for any government funding, stimulus or other small-business support and the reality of refunding more than 50 parties and class registrations as well as paying the expenses of the business and building, while being closed for months-without-end and no income, is more burden than we can carry right now. We can’t begin to thank those in the community who supported our mission and let us reschedule, postpone or uphold the event contracts as signed – you were the good in the situation and gave us hope that we will pull through.
Thank you for bringing your kids, your mom, your friends and most importantly yourself to anything we hosted. Thank you for sharing our social media, special offers and more. Thank you for believing in us and the mission of Pickaway Place.
Small businesses are the heart of this country, there is no warrior salute for the families who give up a piece of their personal life to open a small business. And so if you’re lucky enough to be a fellow small-business owner, or to count your friends as one, give them all the love, respect, support and grace you can because small businesses are what are losing the most right now. And at the end of the day, small businesses are what our communities need. Shop small, support local.
If you were registered and paid for (in full or partial) for a class, program, event/space rental, that did not happen during March 17-December 31, 2020, you have received an email to the email address we have on file.
