Chillicothe, Ohio — The Pickaway-Ross Career & Technology Center was abuzz with excitement on Friday morning as it hosted the 16th Annual Battle of the Bands. The event, held at the center’s Main Campus, featured eight local high school marching bands competing for top honors in a vibrant display of school spirit and musical talent.
The festivities began with the presentation of the trophy and plaque to last year’s champion, Chillicothe High School, which had won in 2023. This year, Chillicothe High School aimed to defend its title against fierce competition. Following a spirited round of performances and a close voting process by Pickaway-Ross students, Chillicothe High School emerged victorious once again, securing back-to-back wins for 2023 and 2024. Unioto High School, which had previously held the title in 2021 and 2022, finished in second place for the second year running. Westfall High School claimed third place with a commendable performance.
Superintendent Jonathan Davis expressed his enthusiasm for the event, noting, “As we celebrate our 50th year of career-technical education at Pickaway-Ross, we were thrilled to host eight of our talented partner district bands and hundreds of community guests. This event is incredibly special for our students, who get to showcase their home school pride. It also provides a fantastic competition for local bands!”
The Battle of the Bands has become a cherished tradition at Pickaway-Ross, offering students from partner districts an opportunity to shine in a friendly competition. The event fosters community pride and collaboration, reinforcing the center’s commitment to supporting local talent.
