PICKERINGTON, OH — The City of Pickerington is gearing up for a spectacular Labor Day celebration as Olympic silver medalist Annette Echikunwoke returns to her hometown for the 76th Annual Pickerington Lions Club Labor Day Parade on September 2, 2024.

Echikunwoke, who made history by becoming the first U.S. woman to medal in the women’s hammer throw at the 2024 Olympics in Paris, will be the star of the parade. Starting at 10 a.m., she will ride atop a USA-themed float, symbolizing her groundbreaking achievement for Team USA.

The parade, which is set to take place at Victory Park, will feature a range of festivities, including a fish fry and food trucks starting at 11 a.m. Local favorites like Schmidt’s and Zapata’s will be serving up delicious food, while DJ Chris Leas of Capital City Sound will provide entertainment. The North and Central Marching Bands will add to the parade’s lively atmosphere, and a vintage plane flyover, sponsored by Initiative Consulting, will be a highlight.

Cameron Fontana, known for his community involvement, will serve as the Grand Marshal of the parade. The event is sponsored by Tuffy Auto, with additional support from Capitol Fence and Park National Bank.
