Pike County – Sheriff’s office reports that a shooting did occur in the county but they are investigating it as noncriminal.
According to Chief Jim Dixon, the sheriff’s department was dispatched to a residence off of Pine Top Road Wednesday afternoon. Witnesses and family members told detectives the shooting was accidental. The shooting occurred on the family’s property.
The juvenile was transported by medical helicopter to Children’s Hospital in Columbus with what Chief Dixon described as a non-life-threatening injury. Sheriff’s Dectives are completing the final report, however, the Chief says the shooting is being investigated as non-criminal.
