PIKETON, Ohio — Starting this academic year, Pike County Career Technology Center (CTC) is rolling out a new initiative to enhance student focus and minimize distractions in classrooms. In alignment with the Ohio Department of Education’s updated cell phones in schools policy, the school will introduce lock boxes for student cell phones.

Under this new policy, each student will be assigned a designated lock box or cubby along with a key. The process is straightforward: students will be required to securely store their cell phones in these designated boxes at the start of each school day. In the afternoon, they can retrieve their phones before leaving school premises.

“We believe this initiative will create a more conducive learning environment by reducing distractions,” stated [School Official’s Name], [Position] at Pike County CTC. “By implementing these lock boxes, we aim to foster focused learning and encourage meaningful engagement in classrooms.”

This proactive measure is part of Pike County CTC’s commitment to ensuring a productive educational experience for all students. The school encourages students and parents to familiarize themselves with the details of the new policy, available on the Ohio Department of Education’s website under the “ODE Cell Phones in Schools Policy” section.
