Carolyn A. Lutz, age 83, of Ashville, passed away April 19, 2016, at Grant Hospital.

She was born Nov. 2, 1932, to the late Donald and Grace Miller Courtright in Ashville. Carolyn was a graduate of Ashville High School Class of 1950 and Ohio University in 1971.

She was a loving wife, mother, school teacher (Walnut Elementary) and pianist. She was a member of Village Chapel United Methodist Church, where she played the organ for many years. She was also involved in the United Methodist Women, Susanna Wesley Circle and the Reynoldsburg Emmaus Community, Circle of Caring, Circleville, and a member to the Metta Larks Quartet.

Carolyn is preceded in death by her first husband, Chester C. Peters; son, Joseph Lutz; brothers, Robert and G. William Courtright; sisters, Ruth E. McMullen, Charlotte A. Rife, Donna Peters and Barbara Leifheit.

She is survived by husband, Benis Lutz; children, Karen (Michael) Snyder of Springfield, Richard (Susan) Peters of Ontario, Susan Panazza of Long Beach, California, Jeff (Mary) Lutz of Rancho Santa Margaritta, California, John Lutz of Valencia, California, and Mary L. Lutz of Westerville; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, April 22, 2016, at the Oliver-Cheek Funeral Home, 420 W. Main St., Ashville, and one hour prior to services at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 23, 2016, at Village Chapel UMC, 30 Circleville Ave., Ashville. Interment will follow at Reber Hill Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts can be made to the Village Chapel building fund or the Stefanie Spielman Fund for Breast Cancer Research.
