Gary Sharpe, founder and Chairman of the Board of Circleville-based Health Care Logistics, served as graduate commencement speaker at Xavier University on May 14.
The university presented Sharpe with an Honorary Doctorate of Humanities during the ceremony.
Sharpe, a Xavier MBA alumnus, spoke to graduates about his career as an entrepreneur, which began when he was just 12 years old and had a monopoly on the newspaper routes in his hometown of Williamsport. He also discussed several “a-ha” moments in his career that helped contribute to his success.
In 2015, the Xavier University Center for Innovation named Sharpe its first Innovator in Residence. He was selected for this honor based on his innovative spirit, outstanding leadership and enormous support for the Xavier community.
Sharpe, a 1965 graduate of Westfall High School, recently received the Distinguished Alumni Award from the school, where he was a member of the first graduating class.
