LaDona Shives, age 84, of Orient, passed away June 15, 2016, at Brookdale at Pinnacle.
She was born Oct. 17, 1931, in Youngstown.
She worked as a labor and delivery nurse at OSU Hospital.
LaDona was a longtime member of Grove City United Methodist Church. She was a story teller for Story League of Central Ohio, and she was a volunteer for the Grove City Arts Council, Scioto Elementary, Harrisburg Elementary and Harrisburg Library. Many people heard her voice on Central Ohio Radio Reading Service.
She was a member of The Riverside Hospital Sewing Guild. Her interests included poetry, wood carving and painting.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Theodore; sister, Sharon Garver; and brother, John Garver.
Survivors include her sons, Eric, Gary and Scott (Brenda) Shives; grandchildren, Andrew, Thomas, Lauren, Julie, Zack, Taylor Shives, Amy Reeves and Julie Gall; great-grandchildren, Isabelle Reeves and Madeline Gall; brother, Carl Garver; sister-in-law, Joanne Garver; many cousins, nieces and nephews; and special friend, Vicki Hunt.
Friends may visit from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, June 24, 2016, at the Spence-Miller Funeral Home, 2697 Columbus St. Grove City. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, June 25, 2016, at Grove City United Methodist Church, 2684 Columbus St., Grove City, with a time of visitation from 9:30 a.m. until the service.
The family would like to thank Brookdale at Pinnacle, Kindred Home Care and Grove City United Methodist Church for their care and support.
