James E. Brown, 61, of Circleville, passed away Saturday, July 16, 2016, at his residence.

He was born on May 21, 1955, in Oak Hill.

He had worked as a carpenter, painter and a bartender for a number of years. Jim had served his country in the U.S. Army.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Lou (Mannering) Brown; three daughters, Toni Marie, Jamie Lea and Kristy Dawn; and two brothers, Steven and Michael.

He is survived by his wife, Roxanne (Rayburn) Brown; son, Matt (Amanda Poling) Brown of Circleville; grandchild, Kamryn Poling; father, Charles Brown (his wife, Wyoma) of Circleville; sister, Brenda (Bill) Johnson of Ashville; sister-in-law, Roxie Brown of Jackson; special friends, Jack and Marti Bridges, Patty and B., Armin Rayburn, Randy Brown and Terry Collins; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 21, 2016, at Oliver-Cheek Funeral Home, 420 W. Main St., Ashville, with a graveside service on at 11 a.m. Friday in Reber Hill Cemetery, 16810 Winchester Rd., Ashville, with AMVETS Post 2256 providing military honors.

The family request in lieu of flowers, contributions should be made to the funeral home for expenses.
