Westfall High School’s Marching Band beat out seven other bands to win the ninth annual Pickaway-Ross Battle of the Bands held Sept. 9 in Chillicothe.

This was the second win for the Westfall Mustangs under the leadership of Conductor Mark Schaffnit. The band also won in 2012.

The band will be presented with the Pickaway-Ross Cup at an upcoming school event.

Unioto’s Marching Shermans came in second, after back-to-back wins in 2015 and 2014. Paint Valley came in third; Zane Trace in fourth; Chillicothe in fifth; Southeastern in sixth; Circleville in seventh; and Huntington in eighth.

The annual Battle of the Bands preceded Pickaway-Ross’ Tailgate Party and Car Show, an event to kick off the school year. Students spent the day taking part in a student car show and activities such as volleyball, kickball, horseshoes, tug-of-war and three-on-three basketball games.
