Roy E. Reed, 71, of Chillicothe, went to be with his heavenly Father at 8:45 p.m. Friday, March 17, 2017, at his residence following a short illness.
He was born Feb. 16, 1946, in Ross County, to the late William B. and Ethel Russell Reed.
On Feb. 13, 2014, he married the former Cheri Claytor, who survives.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by children, Brad (Beverly) Reed and Todd (April) Reed, both of Plant City, Florida, and Stacy Reed of Seffner, Florida; stepchildren, Mikki (Steve) Vinkovich of Circleville, Melvin W. (Donna) Oliver Jr. of Urbana and Mistti (Jason) Oliver Osbourn of Washington Court House; 25 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; brothers, James (Diane) Reed of Chesapeake and Donald (Dee) Reed of Marion; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his mother, Ethel Reed; father and step-mother, William and Beulah Cooper McGarvey Reed; his former wife, Karen Maple Reed; a sister, Grace Reed; and stepbrothers, Jim, Dick and Darrell McGarvey.
Roy served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War.
He attended the Mt. Tabor Community Christian Church and retired from TransMontaigne in Tampa, Florida.
Funeral services will be held 3 p.m. Wednesday, March 22, 2017, in the Ware Funeral Home, Chillicothe, with Rev. Rick Hartley officiating. Friends may call from 1 p.m. until the time of service at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Ware Funeral Home. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in Wrens, Georgia.
