John L. Davis, 69, of Amanda, passed away suddenly on Thursday, April 13, 2017.
He was born Jan. 19, 1948, in Wheelwright, Kentucky, and was the son of the late Lee and Jeannine (Elliott) Davis Jr.
John was a 1966 graduate of Huntington East High School, member of South Perry UMC and retired from Scioto Builders in Columbus.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving his country during Vietnam.
He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Sharon (Williard) Davis; daughter, Kendra (Joe) Cook of Laurelville; five grandchildren, Katlyn, Morgan and Ethan White, Grace and Jacob Cook; aunts and uncles, Harold (Joyce) Davis, Teddy Davis, Mildred Sammons, Emmalina Adams and Sue Moore; many cousins whom he considered his siblings; and brothers and sisters-in-law, Don (Pat) Williard, Dale (Patty) Williard, Marlene (Harry) Hedges and Debra (Tim) Watkins.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Megan White.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 18, 2017, at the Taylor Funeral Home in Amanda with Pastor Jim Vandagriff officiating. Burial will follow in Bethany Cemetery, where military honors will be provided by AMVETS Post #2256 in Circleville. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, April 17, 2017, at the funeral home.
