Ruth M. (Cox) Dingess

Ruth Marie (Cox) Dingess, age 74, formerly of Tarlton, went to be with the lord on April 27, 2017.

She was born on Dec. 2, 1942, in Salt Creek Township, Pickaway County, to her parents, Johnny L. and Mabel (Davis) Cox.

Left to mourn her passing is her son, Charles Andrew (April) Dingess; two grandsons, Jonathan and Joshua Dingess of Chillicothe, who brought her much joy; a loving sister, Wanda (David) Hartranft of Circleville; a brother-in-law, Arnold (Marian) Dingess; sister-in-law, Margarite Dingess; her nephews, Tim (Melissa), Tracy (Tammie), Tom (Dawn) and Trent (Shannon) Hartranft; her niece, Teryl (Dave) Wilson; and a special niece, Trina (Andrew) Wright.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her brother, George E. Cox; and her beloved husband of almost 50 years, Dallas Douglas Dingess.

Ruth graduated from Salt Creek Township High School in 1960, the last graduating class of seniors. With her family, including the beloved dog, Taz, she previously resided in Chillicothe until the final year of her life, when she became a resident of the Pickaway Manor Assisted Living Facility in Circleville.

There she enjoyed hobbies such as putting together puzzles, Bingo, reading and doing word searches. During her time there, she loved scavenger hunts, auctions, mystery trips that would lead to her getting her favorite ice cream, and other activities and entertainment. While there, she also was blessed with new friendships and received wonderful care and support from her caregivers. Tremendous gratitude is to be given to them, along with the caring staff of Heartland Hospice that enabled her to remain in her apartment until passing.

Her family also expresses their deepest thanks to Dr. Larry Copeland of the OSU gynecologic oncology center and Dr. Krishman of Adena Oncology. These doctors, along with their amazing, compassionate staffs, helped her to fight her long battle with cancer, but now she rests in peace.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 2, 2017, at Defenbaugh-Wise-Schoedinger Funeral Home, 151 E. Main St., Circleville. Her funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 3, 2017, with visitation an hour prior. Pastor Jim Daft will be officiating. Burial will follow at Tarlton Cemetery.
