Carl Valentine Jr., age 83, passed away in the presence of his family on May 20, 2017.
He was born on July 7, 1933, to his parents, Carl Valentine Sr. and Alice “Mae” Barr in Circleville.
Carl was a caring man who believed whole-heartedly in hard work. He loved using his hands, and he retired from General Motors after 35.9 years of loyal service.
Carl loved working in his garden, where he grew delicious tomatoes, sweet corn and strawberries. He was also an avid trail rider and enjoyed caring for his horses.
Carl was an easygoing man who loved his family and friends, and he would give the shirt off of his back to anyone who needed it. He will be dearly missed by those who knew him.
Carl is preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Richard Valentine; and his sister, Theda Collins.
Left to mourn his passing are his children, Diana Valentine, Recisa (Rick) VanFossen, Mylia (David) Marshall, Robin (Mike) Stemple, Tina Siemer and Mike (Rebecca) Valentine; as well as 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Also left to mourn is his sister, Virginia (Ronald) Swoyer; his brother-in-law, Dwight Collins; his sister-in-law, Audrey Valentine; and his beloved horse, Imp.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to Berger Hospice and the staff of Brown Memorial Home for the wonderful care they provided to Carl.
His funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 24, 2017, at Defenbaugh-Wise-Schoedinger Funeral Home, 151 E. Main St., Circleville, with visitation starting at 11 a.m. Chaplain Jim Ferrell will be officiating. Burial will follow at Maple Hill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Berger Hospice.
