Lew Hilgenberg, health teacher at Teays Valley High School, recently received a $2,455 grant from the Teays Valley Educational Foundation to be used to purchase 30 heart monitors for a new course offering at the school.
The new Sports Nutrition and Fitness course will be offered to students next school year.
“I am thankful for TVEF’s donation to purchase the heart rate monitors for the new Sports Nutrition and Fitness classes being offered next year at TVHS,” Hilgenberg said. “The HR monitors will help provide the students feedback on their cardiovascular health as they perform different types of workouts. They will be useful with data collection for the different projects the students will be doing.”
