Robert L. “Bobby” Ison, age 74, of South Bloomfield, passed away on Sunday, July 9, 2017, at OSU Wexner Medical Center in Columbus.
Bobby was born on Jan. 15, 1943, to the late Lawrence and Margaret (Duke) Ison in Baltimore, Maryland.
Bobby was a 1961 graduate of South High School and attended Wittenberg University.
Bobby worked for Federal Glass for 18 years and retired after 20 years at Union Fork and Hoe. He had most recently worked part-time at Rural King in Circleville.
Bobby was an avid hunter and fisherman and also enjoyed playing golf.
Along with parents, Bobby is also preceded in death by a sister, Bonnie J. Haddad; and best friend, Homer Bigham.
Bobby is survived by wife of 53 years, Carol A. (Hunt); son, Steve (Angela) Ison of Ashville; grandchildren, Steven Cole and Tyler Jacob; step-grandson, Andrew Ernest Bruning; sister, Joanne Rankin; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Patti and William Walton; niece, Kacy (Matt) Bielozer, and their son, Jacob; nephew, Kyle Walton; special friends, Ernest and Mary Louise Booth Jr. of Ashville, along with Sharon and Burl Bowling and Sharon Bigham.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 13, 2017, and one hour prior to funeral at 11 a.m. Friday, July 14, 2017, at the Oliver-Cheek Funeral Home, 420 W. Main St., Ashville. Pastor Owen Stotts will officiate, and interment will follow at Reber Hill Cemetery in Ashville.
