CIRCLEVILLE – City police are seeking information on a suspect accused of assaulting and robbing a 91-year-old woman on North Pickaway Street on Sunday.
According to reports, the incident occurred shortly before 10 a.m. Sunday in the rear parking lot at Community United Methodist Church at 120 N. Pickaway St.
The suspect, described as a tall, thin male, about 18 to 20 years old with brown curly hair and wearing jeans and a ball cap, was riding a white mountain bike when he approached the victim as she exited her vehicle.
The victim was reportedly knocked to the ground and struck her head on the sidewalk, which rendered her unconscious. She was transported to Berger Hospital for treatment, where she received four stitches to the left temple area and suffered a swollen left eye. She was hospitalized, and additional tests are still pending.
It was discovered later that she had been robbed of her purse that was slung over her shoulder when she exited her vehicle.
The white mountain bike was left behind at the scene and was recovered by responding officers.
