Lila Rae McDonald, 69, of Chillicothe, passed to her heavenly home on Friday, Aug. 14, 2015, at 4:33 a.m. at Union Hospital in Terre Haute, Indiana, after a long bout with renal failure and diabetes.
She was born on Sept. 6, 1945, in Chillicothe, to Gibb Royalty and Nelsie Fleshman.
Lila graduated from Chillicothe High School in 1963. She and Bill married in 1964. They lived in Morehead, Kentucky, for a couple of years and moved to Cincinnati, where she worked at Gilkey Electric. They eventually moved back to Chillicothe, where they raised Bill and Danielle.
She went back to work and was the Director of Transportation at the Ross County Senior Citizen Center, where she touched many lives with over 20 years of service. Lila attended church in both Chillicothe and Sullivan, Indiana, when her health would allow it.
She was preceded in death by her mother; and brother-in-law, Ron Crowe.
Lila is survived by her lifelong, loving husband, William G. McDonald Jr.; two children, William G. McDonald III, M.D. of Sullivan, Indiana, and Danielle R. (Mike) Tourtellot of Ashville; granddaughter, Kyndle N. McDonald, the pride of her life; two sisters, Vitula Crowe of Chillicothe and Eugenia (Richard) Deem of Lutz, Florida; along with a very special nephew, Dave Crowe of Chillicothe; nephew, Tod Crowe; niece, Kim Crowe; and by brothers- and sisters-in-law, Barbra, Jerry, Richard, Robert, Pamala, Teresa, Jack, Tom and Tim.
Funeral services will be held at noon on Saturday, Aug. 22, 2015, at High Street Church of Christ in Christian Union with Rev. Bruce Viar officiating. Burial will follow in Floral Hills Cemetery. Friends may call at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of service at noon.
