Norman “Jack” McNichols, 91, of Laurelville, went to be with the Lord peacefully at his residence surrounded by his family on Monday, Aug. 17, 2015.
He was born on Nov. 28, 1923, in Hocking County, to Lemuel and Nina (Hart) McNichols.
On Oct. 9, 1948, he married his beloved wife, Frances (Wagner) McNichols.
Jack was a World War II Navy veteran who served from 1943-1946 on the USS Zauiak. He loved to go to church, and he was an avid speaker for Christ and a member of Stump Run Gospel Tabernacle. He had a lifetime career in the lumber business and was co-owner of McNichols & McNichols Lumber Company for many years.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 55 years, Frances McNichols; daughter, Norma McNichols; brother, Albert McNichols; and a sister, Virginia Nelson.
He is survived by daughter, Jackie (Tom) Hunt of Circleville; sons, William (Karen) McNichols of Circleville, Rick (Sue), Timothy (Carol) and Jerry (Brenda Estep) McNichols, all of Laurelville; brothers, Paul (Janice) McNichols of Ocklawaha, Florida, Dallas (Jane) McNichols of Laurelville and Gerald McNichols of Circleville; sisters, Mildred Hartshorn of Laurelville, Imo Jean McNichols of Laurelville, Dorothy Vincent of Amanda, Goldie Meuller of Circleville and Barbara (George) Myers of Circleville.
Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 21, 2015, at Wellman Funeral Home, Laurelville, with Pastor James Vandagriff officiating. Burial will be in Green Summit Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home in Laurelville.
