The excitement continues to mount as the Powerball® jackpot soars to a staggering $1.09 billion, following Monday night’s drawing where no ticket matched all six numbers. The drawn numbers were white balls 19, 24, 40, 42, 56, and the red Powerball 23, with a Power Play® multiplier of 2X.
This monumental jackpot now ranks as the fourth-largest in Powerball history and the ninth-largest in U.S. lottery history. The estimated cash value stands at a whopping $527.3 million for the next drawing scheduled on Wednesday night.
Drew Svitko, Powerball Product Group Chair and Pennsylvania Lottery Executive Director, expressed enthusiasm, stating, “For lotteries, this is our second consecutive week of being able to offer players an advertised jackpot over $1 billion. If you’re thinking of buying a ticket for Wednesday’s Powerball drawing, please keep in mind, it only takes one ticket to win, and a portion of your ticket sale will stay in your state to support good causes. Have fun and good luck!”
Despite the absence of a jackpot winner, over 2.1 million tickets secured cash prizes in Monday’s drawing. Among them, six tickets matched all five white balls, each scooping a $1 million prize. These winning tickets were sold in Florida, Maryland (2), Minnesota, North Carolina, and Virginia. Nationwide, 53 tickets clinched $50,000 prizes, while 11 tickets secured $100,000 prizes.
The last Powerball jackpot victory dates back to January 1, 2024, when a ticket sold in Michigan won a remarkable $842.4 million. Since then, there have been 39 consecutive drawings without a jackpot winner, setting the stage for Wednesday’s 40th drawing in this jackpot streak.
Should a lucky player clinch the jackpot in Wednesday’s drawing, they’ll have the choice between an annuitized prize of approximately $1.09 billion or a lump sum payment of roughly $527.3 million, both before taxes. Opting for the annuity would entail an initial immediate payment followed by 29 annual payments, each escalating by 5 percent annually.
With Powerball tickets priced at $2 per play, they are available for purchase in 45 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Notably, over half of all proceeds from ticket sales remain within the jurisdiction of sale. Powerball draws are broadcast live every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday from the Florida Lottery draw studio in Tallahassee, and are also streamed live on Powerball.com.
The odds of winning any prize stand at 1 in 24.9, while the odds of hitting the jackpot are a staggering 1 in 292.2 million.
