Pickaway County – A Pleasantville man was charged and arrested last February after evidence arose of a sexual attack on a young child, now that person is going to jail.
Phillip Williams was charged with Rape of the first degree after evidence arose of sexual battery against a child that was six years old, sadly the abuse continued for several years before it was uncovered.
In February Williams was allowed to post bail of 150,000 dollars before his jury trial on May 16th, 2024 after several continuances, the trial was held on November 07, 2024. A plea bargain was made to remove the specification from the charge and a guilty charge to Rape in the First degree was entered by the defendant in open court. On December 2, 2024, sentencing rained down on the defendant with Judge Knece sentencing Willams to 10 to 15 years in prison 10,000 dollar fine, and that he would be classified as a Tier III sex offender with lifetime registration every 90 days. This was the maximum sentence for this crime.
